Science: Hair Raising Balloon Experiment

 You will need some balloons

1. Blow up your balloon and tie a knot to hold the air inside.

2. Rub your hair with the balloon a number of times.

Then, hold the balloon above your head. Make sure that you are not touching your head.

3. Watch as your hair stands on end!

Why?

Rubbing a balloon on your hair creates static electricity, 

Static electricity is a build-up of electrical charge on an object, because some of the electrons (negatively charged) are transferred across.

One object will have a negative charge and one to have a positive charge.
